Career Technical Education (CTE)
Career Technical Education (CTE) gives students the chance to explore real career fields, develop practical skills, and build a foundation for whatever comes next — college, a career, or both.
CTE gives purpose to learning by connecting classroom instruction to the real world. Students in CTE programs graduate with hands-on experience, industry knowledge, and employability skills that set them apart.
What Is a Career Pathway?
CTE programs at FBHS are organized into Career Pathways — multi-year sequences of two to three courses built around a specific career area. Each pathway is designed to give students a progressively deeper understanding of an industry, from foundational concepts to advanced skills and real-world application.
Students who complete a full pathway are prepared to enter the workforce, pursue industry certifications, continue into college programs, or do all three.
Why CTE?
CTE helps students connect what they're learning in school to careers they care about. Through CTE, FBHS students gain opportunities to:
- Explore a career field before committing to a college major or career path
- Develop hands-on technical and employability skills
- Earn industry-recognized certifications
- Participate in work-based learning experiences
- Build real-world confidence and readiness
