Sex Discrimination and Sex-Based Harassment

Fort Bragg Unified School District is committed to providing a safe, equitable, and supportive learning environment for every student and staff member. The District does not discriminate on the basis of sex in any educational program or activity it operates, and it is required by Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 not to do so.

Sexual Harassment Prevention Training

In compliance with state law, the following training modules are provided for staff and community members:

California Law: Sex Equity in Education

It is the policy of the State of California that all persons, regardless of their gender, shall enjoy freedom from discrimination of any kind in the educational institutions of the state. The relevant laws are collectively known as the Sex Equity in Education Act (California Education Code §§ 221.5–231.5).

How to File a Complaint

If you believe you have experienced sex discrimination or sex-based harassment, you may:

  • Contact the District's Title IX Coordinator (see contact information above)
  • File a complaint with the U.S. Department of Education, Office for Civil Rights:

Complaints may be filed confidentially. You are protected against retaliation for filing a complaint in good faith.
