Message from the Principal
It’s hard to believe—we’re coming to the close of the 2011/2012 school year! 2nd graders are heading into California State Standards testing as they begin their transition to 3rd grade at Dana Gray. Preschool, Kindergarten, and first grade students are ready for their next steps too. Many classes are involved in year-end productions, field trips, and culminating events. The Site Council needs new members for the upcoming school year; please take an election form from the holder near the Site Council hallway bulletin board (or from Mary in the office) and sign up as a candidate. Return the form to the office so your name can be placed on the ballot that will be available the evening of Open House, Thursday, May 24. Next year’s Site Council members will be invited to attend the final Site Council meeting of the year on Monday, June 11 at 2:45 in the library. The Redwood Parents’ Club is sponsoring a brunch in honor of our teaching staff on the California Teachers Association “Day of the Teacher” on Wednesday, May 9, and hosting a luncheon for all Redwood staff on Monday, May 21. The Redwood Learning Community is blessed with so much: our children, our teachers and support staff, our parents, our village of Ft. Bragg! Thank you all for making our 2011/12 school year so rich and meaningful. Be sure to reserve the mornings of the two last Fridays in the school year for special Redwood events: At morning opening on Friday, June 8, we honor all those volunteers who have contributed in a special way to our school. The final Friday, June 15, we honor our students who have had 100% attendance, homework, and citizenship records. Come join us for these celebrations! It has been a pleasure to serve as the Principal of this wonderful school for another year. Enjoy your summer!
