Our goal is to provide students with a solid foundation in the core curriculum areas. Teaching children to read is our focus. We support our students in a variety of way.
The preschool program includes Head Start, Special education preschool, and a state-funded preschool. The preschools work closely with each other and with the elementary school to provide the easiest transition into kindergarten.
Teachers tutor 1st and 2nd grade students in reading and math. We also have a Title 1 reading program. Family Literacy Math Nights and the Young Authors’ Fair are two of our yearly activities.
Rainbow Farm, our on-site garden and mini-farm, is generously supported by the Fort Bragg community. Here students experience the science curriculum in a hands-on manner. The children enjoy caring for their garden plots, chickens, and pygmy goats.
Our other elementary school program is operated in the coastal town of Westport, which is located 30 minutes north of Fort Bragg on Highway One. Westport Village School provides a small, community-based, multi-grade, integrated K-3 classroom, with a highly qualified credentialed teacher. Children are taught in a caring & nurturing setting to respect one another and become responsible students by learning to communicate clearly, be good listeners and solve problems creatively by discussing issues in the spirit of team building.
We have an active group of parents and volunteers who support our programs by developing fun, family-oriented fundraising activities and working on a weekly basis in the classrooms.
Redwood School & Westport Schools' web sites are currently under construction.
