School Board Member Appointed

SCHOOL BOARD MEMBER APPOINTED
The Fort Bragg Unified School District appointed Michelle Norvell
to serve on the Board of Trustees at a special meeting on November
18, 2009. Dee Lynn Carpenter is stepping down from the Board
after an eight year tenure. Her term ends December 1, 2009. Mrs.
Norvell will be sworn into her new position on December 10, 2009.
She will serve two years until the next regularly scheduled
board election in November of 2011.
Michelle has experience serving on the site councils for Redwood, Dana Gray, the Middle School and this year FBHS. She will step down from her position on the FBHS site council to take the Board of Trustees position.
Michelle's appointment is provisional. Unless a petition calling for a special election containing a sufficient number of signatures is filed in the office of the county superintendent of schools within thirty (30) days of provisional appointment, the appointment shall become an effective appointment. (Education Code ยง5092).
The Board is pleased that Michelle will be joining the team. Anyone interested in the activities of the Board of Trustees is welcome to attend the meetings which are generally held on the second Thursday of each month at 6:00 PM at the Diederich Center. Meetings are also televised by MCTV and available for viewing on their website at www.mendocoasttv.org/.
