PLEASE GIVE WHAT YOU CAN
Having had the privilege of working with
the dedicated teachers and staff of the Fort Bragg Unified School
District, I am deeply concerned about the imminent budget cuts that
our schools will have to endure. It is commonplace for teachers to
use their own money for supplemental materials for their
classrooms, and schools are now forced to careful ration necessary
items like pencils and paper. The ever-increasing energy and
operating costs, coupled with the resources needed to meet ongoing
and additional educational mandates, has severely limited our
ability to spend money on some of the materials needed to support
students. In short, we need everyone to do what they can to help
our children and our schools.
In the coming months, schools will be
strapped with difficult budget choices. I realize, too, that in
these economic hard times similar tough choices are already being
made by businesses and private citizens throughout our community. I
know that our schools have long benefited from the generosity of
local business and parents clubs, and the willingness of voters to
pass recent bond measures. It is my hope that we can continue to
“pitch in” to ensure the best possible education for our students.
Any contribution, large or small, will be a gift to our children
and our future. Any citizen or business owner may make a monetary
donation, or directly supply items from the lists provided.
Together we can make a difference,
Thank you,
Teri Allegrini
